Starting out in energy in the corporate world for British Gas Business, Rob moved through the ranks before taking up his first position with a challenger brand at electricity4business. In 2009 he moved to OVO to set up their industry operations, leading that department from 5,000 to 140,000 customers, the 10th longest serving employee at his time of departure.
Moving in 2013 to support the launch of Green Star Energy, for the Canadian firm Just Energy, where he led the operations function. By the time he’d left to become a consultant in June 2016, he’d overseen the first residential deployment of Junifer (including multiple releases to the system in the following years), grown the business to 130,000 customers, had his team win a Consumer Moneyfacts award, and lead in 3 on/near shore outsourcing projects (Coventry, Ireland and Bulgaria).
Since becoming a consultant he’s worked with suppliers ranging from more established players and new entrants. Projects have included performing end-to-end operational reviews; assisting with system selection, design & development; designing and implementing operating models; providing regulatory assistance; and leading system migrations.
An expert in white label arrangements, he’s worked on projects including leading Ebico’s transfer from SSE to Robin Hood Energy and being the energy market expert for the Greater London Authority’s procurement of a white label partner for the Mayor’s Energy for Londoners programme – London Power, which was awarded to Octopus Energy.
